OBJECTIONS
Group Exhibition, Curated by Vicki VanAmeyden
March 2 – 30, 2018
Opening Reception: March 2, 2018, 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Inspired by the political, social, and cultural climate in our beloved United States of America, this diverse collection interprets and reflects these conditions.
The spirit of the exhibition resonates with a quote from author Toni Morrison:
"...All good art is political! There is none that isn’t. And the ones that try hard not to be political are political by saying, ‘We love the status quo.’ …it (art) has to be both: beautiful and political at the same time. I’m not interested in art that is not in the world. And it’s not just the narrative, it’s not just the story; it’s the language and the structure and what’s going on behind it…"

Group Exhibition, Curated by Helen Kleczynski
October 5 – 29, 2018
Opening Reception: October 5, 2018, 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Kleczynski along with artists Dave Middleton, Tamara Hirzel and Susan Snyder welcome this exhibition's viewers to the world of the creative process. These artists will exhibit their plein air sketches along with studio studies they use to plan compositions for larger more complex works.
This exhibition's curator, Helen Kleczynski states that in order to study her subject matter, she often paints outdoors in hand-bound watercolor sketchbooks, she then uses these sketches along with photographs as references for larger paintings. "I am inspired to paint places or experiences that are meaningful to me, including rural landscapes and seascapes".
THERE ONCE WAS A ROAD THROUGH THESE WOODS
Paintings and Prints by Donald W. VanAuken
May 4 – June 1, 2018
Opening Reception: May 4, 2018, 5:00 - 8:00 pm
VanAuken states that location and environment has always played a crucial role in his creative process. He and his spouse recently moved into a century-old farmhouse with a small area of wooded glens and fields. Through this move he has begun to explore “location” in relationship to his work.
He explains that their property is in close proximity to a nearby highway, which counterbalances some of the more serene attributes of their homestead. This push and pull manifests itself in his visual work, a juxtaposition of attraction and repulsion. The use of images of local wild life and fauna within this setting are allegorical, used as a means to explore situations, quandaries and everyday experiences, contributing to the larger narrative of this work.
